- Izu Kappa's Fruit Anmitsu is a unique Japanese sweet that uses diced tokoroten (agar jelly) made from 100% Izu agar. It luxuriously uses twice the usual amount of agar, offering a delightful aroma of the sea and a crunchy texture. The bean paste is made from 100% Hokkaido-grown adzuki beans prepared by a long-established Kyoto bean paste factory, and the black syrup is made from 100% Okinawan brown sugar, resulting in a rich flavor unlike anything found in commercially available products. Fruits such as peaches, oranges, and pineapples add color, and you can choose from four flavors: black syrup, white syrup, matcha, and hojicha. Because it's tokoroten-based, it's low in calories and rich in dietary fiber, making it healthier than Western sweets. It's perfect for enjoying the taste of a traditional Japanese sweet at home, and also makes a great souvenir or small gift. A seasonal cherry blossom anmitsu is also available in spring.
