    This smoked eel product is made using Saiwa's Lake Hamana eels. The Lake Hamana eels are slowly cooked at a low temperature and then grilled over straw. The excess fat drips onto the open flame of the straw grill, and the eel is smoked by the rising smoke, adding a smoky aroma to its delicious flavor, creating a taste that you won't find anywhere else.
    After thawing, it can be eaten as is. It goes well with sake as part of a banquet, or with wine if you drizzle olive oil on it and add dill or other herbs.
